Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

School of Strength is about you. You might have some questions and that’s OK. Here are some answers to our more regular queries. If you want to have a chat, please contact us, we are always happy for a coffe and a chat! All questions are good questions.

Is SOS right for me?

Well we could say yes, but we don’t want to say yes just to get people in.  This is not what the School is all about. We are not like any other training facility you have come across.

Firstly, the School is a “By Appointment Only” gym.  You just can’t rock in off the street and “do a sesh”.  Think of coming to the School as going to the doctors, the physio, the dentist.  You schedule a time with them.  You schedule a time for you to come to the School.  After all, if you can’t look after yourself, how can you give advice and help others.

So, if you want to just wander in and a session, then the School may not be for you. We do accept drop ins, however, this s only when we have room in our “Pain Cave”.  If we have room, then come on in, but ring in advance, just in case.

However, if you want to get better at moving, understand the importance of booking time slots, and want to get stronger, fitter and faster, and have some fun and giggle, then the School is definitely for you.

All our group sessions have no more than 10 students.  Why?  Because as coaches, we like to be able to keep an eye on what everyone is doing. It’s part of our business philosophy.  It’s what we want to be for our clients.  We want to show them what to do, and then coach them through the movements, as well as have a chat about life.

There is no putting on loud music.  There is no instructor up the front telling you “work harder” “give it your best” while you only do half the movements, or at worst, do them half arsed.  We are a unique organisation.

That’s why before your first appointment is booked, we sit down for a one on one chat over coffee (or tea, or hot chocolate, or even a cold drink).  We want to find out about you.  What your goals are.  We want to find what makes you tick.

What should I wear to SOS?

Nobody cares what you wear at SOS, as long as it is sensible and fit for purpose.   We have some of our older men wear denim shorts and collared t-shirts.  We have other clients who wear tights.  But one thing is certain, no one is judging what you wear.  We apart from your sock game. Ridiculous socks are encouraged.  We may even have a “Sock Challenge”!  Don’t know what a sock challenge is?  Wear your most outrageous pair of socks, and we will let the followers decide who wins 😉

Am I too old?

Too old?  Age is just a number.  Some people are old at 32, while others are young at 82.  Don’t let your Date of Birth dictate what you can do.

Our youngest client is 10, while our oldest is 83.  If you want to improve your quality of life, become more active, and enjoy the world around you, then get in touch.
